    They offer bio-signal monitoring solutions and components for smart textiles, supporting customers in creating market-ready products for health improvement and personal safety. Their products, including wearable sensors and smart garments, use a mobile app to provide real-time biofeedback on stress relief and better sleep management.

    The pandemic has sparked a notable increase in the popularity of meditation apps, supported by research showing their positive effects on stress relief, mental health, and sleep quality.

    Given this growing trend, the potential market opportunity, and the ability to utilize existing technology, it became evident that adding meditation features to the current product offering is necessary to meet consumer demand and stay competitive.

    After deep analysis, the following business goals were identified as priorities:

    • User retention and engagement: To maintain and increase user engagement and retention through the app.
    • Brand differentiation: In a competitive wellness app market, creating a unique product that stands out is crucial. The app was to enhance brand visibility and appeal.
    • Operational efficiency and cost management: To ensure the app operates efficiently and thus reduces customer service issues and operational costs related to maintenance and updates.
  • Approach

    On this project, our Flutter developer and PM were engaged in an outstaffing arrangement, working in close collaboration with the client's Swiss team:

    • The project utilized the Scrum framework, so our specialists' competence in this methodology allowed them to quickly integrate into the client's team, adapt, and contribute effectively.
    • Development meetings were conducted by the client's team, while our PM facilitated client meetings to gather feedback and monitor progress, ensuring alignment and satisfaction throughout the project.
    • For the meditation app development, our approach emphasized a seamless integration of technology and user experience.
    • We implemented a monorepository structure for the project, segmenting it into distinct modules. This modular approach significantly streamlined the process of transferring specific functionalities between clients, saving considerable time and enhancing efficiency.

  • Implementation

    The client required an application optimized to minimize device resource utilization, particularly battery consumption during background data syncing, which is critical during activities such as sleep monitoring or meditation sessions. The app needed to ensure smooth performance across all device types without draining the battery or requiring excessive processing power.

    Project highlights:
    • Integrating wearable data: When Binariks developer joined the project, only about 10% was written, primarily involved a module that facilitated communication between wearable devices and smartphones. We expanded, refined, and optimized this module to enhance its functionality. We transferred raw data to devices with some data uploaded directly to the server uploads for further analysis so that the system could make proposals for a user whose data is similar by certain parameters to the already stored ones. We utilized a mix of Firebase and AWS storage solutions to manage and store substantial data from wearables efficiently. Firebase was used for crash reports and analytics and to store and update exercise links, enhancing our app's responsiveness and user engagement.
    • Custom graphs development: We developed custom graphs that displayed post-session results to users. These graphs were complex, containing multiple graphical elements not available in existing components. Despite the complexity, we successfully delivered the first intricate chart with essential functionalities within just two weeks.
    • Frontend development: While the client's team handled the backend development, our specialist focused on the Flutter-based frontend. Flutter was chosen for its ability to provide a native speed and feel, ensuring both stability and swift development. This strategic decision significantly reduced development time and costs, even while handling the complexities of the application.
    • Mobile testing: We also wrote tests for the app, particularly automation and interface Golden tests, to ensure the app looks how it's supposed to and the UI remains consistent across various updates and devices.
    • Cross-platform capability: The application was designed for mobile devices with a separate admin panel as a single-page web application. The application also supported an offline mode.
