Senior Backend Engineer (Go + FHIR) in Remote (Ukraine)
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Go + FHIR) to join a project focused on secure, standards-compliant digital health solutions that empower researchers and public health institutions to advance evidence-based medicine.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable backend services and healthcare data platform, working within a modern cloud-native environment with a strong focus on security, interoperability, and reliability.

What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with strong production experience in Go (Golang)
- Solid experience with Kubernetes and Docker (or equivalent container orchestration platforms) in production environments
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including query optimization, schema migrations, and transactional design
- Hands-on experience designing and operating REST and/or gRPC APIs at scale
- Experience working with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), including healthcare data modeling, interoperability concepts, and integration of healthcare-related APIs or systems
- Good understanding of secure software design, including authentication, authorization, secrets management, and data-protection best practices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Professional written and spoken English
- Design, build, and deliver backend services in Go (Golang), writing clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code
- Contribute to software architecture, API design, technical discussions, and code reviews
- Build and operate services on Kubernetes with Docker, integrating with CI/CD pipelines and observability tooling
- Design systems with security at the core, including authentication flows, authorization concepts, and data-protection architecture, as well as related technical documentation for clinical and compliance reviews
- Work with PostgreSQL and other data stores to model healthcare and research data with attention to scalability, performance, schema evolution, and data integrity
- Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, data, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions aligned with GDPR/HIPAA expectations and clinical partner requirements
- Contribute to operational excellence through monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and performance optimization
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Exposure to digital health, clinical research, or other regulated environments (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001)
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
- Experience working in a staff-augmentation or embedded-consultant engagement model
