Streamlining Fertility Care with Custom Web Development and Telehealth Integration

To support our client's rapid growth as they onboard more clients and partners, Binariks assembled a team of skilled backend and DevOps professionals with specific expertise in the healthcare industry. Our specialists went through rigorous rounds of external and internal interviews to ensure the best fit for the client's requirements.

The project was carefully planned to meet the company's unique goals, starting with a detailed project framework, problem assessment, and customized agenda to clarify all objectives and milestones.

Thus, Binariks started creating a custom web application, a solution to improve accessibility to fertility services and optimize the client's operations. We aimed to streamline previously manual and time-consuming processes, such as patient verification and test requisitions.

By importing all patient data from DrChrono, we created a comprehensive, centralized platform where patients can view their health information and designated caregivers can manage user access. This solution bridges gaps in DrChrono's communication capabilities, making the given platform the single source of truth for patient records.

Additionally, we integrated third-party tools like Calendly, Intercom, and Fertile AI, allowing doctors, other medical staff, and patients to access critical information in one place instead of using different systems for each action, from adding lab orders to starting the treatment and registering appointments.

Here’s a breakdown of the technical implementation we developed to support the client’s requirements, optimized for reliable performance and data security:

Programming Language & Frameworks:

• Python: The primary language for backend development due to its efficiency in handling complex logic and data processing.
• Django & Django REST: As the web framework.

Data Storage & Caching:

• PostgreSQL: The primary database, chosen for its reliability and support for complex queries, crucial for managing patient data.
• Redis: Used for caching and managing WebSocket connections, essential for real-time interactions.

Deployment & CI/CD:

• GitHub Actions: The creation of Docker images and deploying them on ControlPlane, enhancing resilience.
• ControlPlane: Hosts three backend instances—two on AWS in different availability zones and one on GCP.

User Interaction Tools:

• Intercom: Integrates patient communication, consolidating messages and contact details for streamlined interactions with customers.
• Calendly: Facilitates scheduling, generating Zoom links, syncing appointments, and tracking availability in real time.

Payment & Verification:

• Stripe: Handles payment processing and US document verification for new patient profiles, ensuring compliance and user verification.

Authentication:

• Auth0: Manages user authentication via OTP, offering flexibility for future social media logins and supporting metadata-based user profile matching.

Healthcare & Communication Integrations:

• DrChrono: Manages patient information securely, serving as a HIPAA-compliant repository for insurance, appointments, and verification documents.
• FertilAI: Tracks fertility treatments, including injections, procedures, and any specific timelines tailored to each patient's case.
• Vital: Automates lab order creation, streamlining the documentation required for lab testing.
• SendGrid: Powers email services, such as sending patient and partner invitations with verification links to match profiles in the system.
